KINSHIP CARE irelandCountry: IRELAND
In partnership with kinship families and key stakeholders, Kinship Care Ireland promotes the recognition, rights and entitlements of children, young people, and families in kinship care, through the provision of information, supports and advocacy for systems and legislative change.
Our founder Caitiríona Nic Mhuiris, became guardian to her four nieces, after their mother’s sudden death. Her family’s experience of trying to access information and identify supports, convinced her of the need to set up an organisation specifically for kinship families.
Kinship Care Ireland is hosted by Treoir and our steering group is made up of individuals who have kinship care experience together with representatives of organisations, including the National Family Support Network, Irish Foster Care Association and Family Resource Centre National Forum.
