ORCHARD FOSTERINGCountry: IRELAND
Our vision is a child-centred service and our goal is to recruit and support carers who can care for children and young people who cannot live with their birth parents for a period of time.
Our mission is our dedication and genuine passion for child welfare and supporting carers.
We pride ourselves on knowing our carers and recognising the contribution they make towards a lasting difference in the lives of the children and young people in their care.
Orchard Fostering was established in 2008 by social work professionals who had extensive experience working with foster carers and vulnerable children; they adopted a family ethos in running the organisation, knowing all the staff and families personally. We have grown from the original owners to a staff of over 30. The head office is based in Dublin but we provide foster care to children and young people across the Republic of Ireland.
We provide foster care and support lodgings to a wide range of children and young people of all ages and cultures with a variety of different needs.
We recognise the importance of the child’s voice and ensure that they have the tools and supports to ensure that their voices are heard and that they are supported. Orchard Fostering’s committee of young people ‘A Young Orchard’s Voice’ is made up of young people in foster care and birth children of families that foster. A Young Orchard’s Voice ensures that our service is informed by our young people and that they are included in decisions that affect them.
This year for Care Day 2021, we are launching our new booklet ‘A Little Book of Big Words’ to provide advice and support to other young people who involved with the foster care system.
